August FFFA + HAH Event
This event was super fun!
Had the gang back together and people at the corner of concord and Washington were being to recognize us and we are know for those tacos!
The day was a bit smoother this time around with helping hands at the prep site in Kennett, lots of produce from KSQ farmers market (Thank you Kennett and Ros) and a solid team at the set up/ distribution site. We did have a few prep/set up people cancel on us which was a stressful thing . we pulled through though and learned to speak up and ask for help instead putting all the work onto our shoulders and feeling like were drowning (We being me…Jamilah).
We had a back to school themed event with some pizza from the pizza man himself, Nick’s Pizza! you can find him on instagram and on the lower westside of Wilmington out of Kozy Korner diner/cafe? not sure the term. its a delicious Detroit style square pizza. He donated 24 of his pies to us which is so sweet! that dude is amazing. We of course had back packs and school supplies for the students as well to grab along with our food options.
Buddy Speaks came out to support and help hand out supplies, Sharia has such a wonderful energy about her. The young students gravitated to her as she was dropping the gems of advise for going back to school.
We also had some awesome chefs helping out with this event as well. Chef Andrew, Hillary, and Tysheen. All my fellow co workers and friends from Terrian Events. Loved having you guys come by and lend a hand! Hillary as we know her to be the illest on the photos once again. We have Andrew on the grill once more with help from the Humbly assisting humanity boys (Harith and Abdul) knocking out the grilled swordfish, Elote, and Grilled chicken. Also, Pastry chef Tysheen came through with bagels from his local job along with a helping hand. Oh, We can forget my lovely friend and Chef, Kanisha. She came through heavy with so many things. thank you girl. She’s our lovely poster woman for the august event wearing the “Black women matter” Tee. got to love it. Thanks Chefs.
Where would we be without an amazing prep team? Basically the little CEO, Miriam/Founder and the OG volunteer, Ms. Majid herself Jennah. Also Elise and Nick from Kennett Square PA came though with the extra hands.
We really did that. Over 150 meals later.
THANK YOU.
